The evening of your session, you’ll receive a private viewing link to view your beautiful gallery and pick your package.
Once you have picked your images, these will be finished and delivered to you. Wall art, if ordered, will be available 14-21 days after your session.
What to Expect During Your Newborn Session
All newborn sessions take place Monday to Friday at 10am and typically last 2 to 3 hours.
Before your session, I’ll send you a prep guide along with a form to collect your colour preferences.
Each session is tailored to you.
If you’ve opted for the Natural and lifestyle session instead of the posed session, the flow is similar.
Feel free to let me know if you have favourite props from my collection, although some props are chosen based on your baby’s weight and may or may not be suitable.
You’re also very welcome to bring any special items to your session, and I’ll do my best to incorporate them.
When you arrive, we’ll start by feeding your baby.
If your baby is breastfed, you can feed them until they’re nice and full.
If your baby is bottle-fed, I’ll feed them myself so they can get used to me.
Once your baby is comfortably full, I’ll begin gently posing them on my posing table.
The first position helps with winding and gets your baby accustomed to how I move them during the session.
It also gives me a chance to observe what your baby likes and dislikes.
The use of a dummy aids in moving your baby and can also help settle them. Please note, I do not give a dummy unless they are very fussy; if they require a feed, they will be fed. Some babies, in particular, love to suck, and this helps the session go smoothly. I have brand new dummies on hand should they need one.
After finishing the table posing, we’ll move on to props. Once wrapped, this is when most breastfed babies would need a top-up.
This part is usually quicker because your baby remains partially wrapped, so there’s less fussing.
I typically use 3-4 props during this part of the session, and this is also when younger siblings can join in.
I do get asked if younger siblings can be photographed first, however, I have found that letting them get used to the studio and the new environment lets them warm up a lot better than starting with them.
There is also a park just around the corner from the studio if you’d like to take them there for the first 30-45 minutes.
Parents and older siblings are included last, which often coincides with the baby’s awake time.
This way, the baby can be comfortably held while awake, making it easier for everyone to enjoy.
