"We had the most wonderful newborn photo session with Kath! Myself, my 2 daughters and my partner felt so welcome and relaxed. Kath was able to capture the most beautiful images of my newborn daughter and of my 2 girls together! I can’t believe how quickly Kath sent the images over either. I was reduced to tears when looking at them all for the first time and we really struggled to choose our favourites as they were all so beautiful! I found Kath’s prices so reasonable as well, she offers different price packages to suit everyone and I think they’re well worth the money especially considering the quality of them and the overall outstanding experience. I can’t recommend Kath enough! And we cannot wait to come back for a family photo shoot in a few months time. Thank you again"
"Cheap photography isn’t good and good photography isn’t cheap." Photographers spend thousands of pounds on training courses, equipment, insurances, props, and editing software. Your Newborn will only be this little once and there are no re-dos. When doing your research on which Newborn photographer to choose please don’t compare on prices! There will always be someone cheaper, but your baby is just a few days old, and your photographer will be the one handling, posing, wrapping and soothing so you can’t trust just anyone to do that. It’s a skill that takes years of experience to have. I am patient. I take the time to make sure each pose is perfected before taking the picture. It’s not the number of pictures you’re paying for. It’s the hours spent on the entire process that you are paying for.
Whilst this is a passion of mine and I get a great deal of satisfaction from it; it is my business and my livelihood. Investing in Newborn photography (and in the Newborn photographer) is something that you should decide on after you do some research and find someone who fits with what you are looking for. If you don't pick me, I truly hope that you find someone who is a good fit for you and what you're looking for.
"We chose Kath to take photos of our little boy at 14 days old. We had to cancel our original photo shoot day due to our boy being unwell but Kath was very accommodating and rearranged our shoot with no issues. The shoot was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Kath was very professional and amazing with Zachary, we would highly recommend Kath to others, a great photo shoot with brilliant photos that we are absolutely in love with."
Safety, experience and training
These days anyone can be a photographer. I do love it when i see people, starting up as a "photographer" because they clearly have a passion for capturing moments for people. As an established photographer for over 13 years, and a highly recognised Newborn photographer for the past 10 years I often see people attempting things that they shouldn't be doing. Newborn photography isn't regulated in the UK, this means that anyone can claim they are a Newborn photographer. This is where my issues are. All too often I am seeing photographers posting photos of newborns that are not carried out safely. They are charging next to nothing because they do not have the experience or training (if they had both of these, trust me, they would be charging a fair price) Education isn't cheap, believe me i have trained with some of the UK top Newborn photographers and if you saw how much we invest in our career you would understand why things like this get our backs up. You've carried this special little bundle for 9 months, they are the most important person in your life, ever. Why would you want to save a few quid and risk your Newborn being hurt by someone who doesn't have the experience to know when a baby needs support or the little tricks we do after the photo to get those images. I have now photographed over to 3000 newborns. When I first started, even though I had training, I still wouldn't attempt certain poses until I knew I could read the babies body language and know when support was needed. (I can read newborns better than adults Haha) Some babies are super strong and are able to hold their heads in certain positions, some are not. Some poses should NEVER be done without holding the baby at all times. So basically, this posts it about SAFETY, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING You should always be able to see a Newborn photographers work if you ask (before and after), you should always speak to friends you have who've had Newborn photos and go off recommendations Newborn photography isn't cheap for a reason. The time frame to take these images is very limited, and your Newborn should be in the safest of hands at all times. Once again thank you to all those who trust me to capture this moment for you, it's an absolute joy doing what I do every day x
